Across the Bay of Biscay to A Coruña, Spain
On Tuesday July 18, Serene finally took off on her first passage--across the Bay of Biscay from Les Sables d'Olonne, France to A Coruña, Spain. It was six weeks delayed from when we had hoped to be able to take off, and we couldn't wait the get going.
The weather forecast called for a moderate downwind breeze all the way to Spain, but that is not what we got. The first day saw winds on the nose varying from 15 to 25 knots, with a mixed of sea with waves 4 - 6 feet. So it was kind of bumpy, but the winds dropped overnight and when the sun rose on the second day there was practically no wind, and the sea state calmed down to nearly glassy.
So we motored the rest of the way and arrived at Real Club Nautico Marina in A Coruña at 4:00 PM on July 20. We were happy to get there!
